Mission and Goals
The Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major is designed to provide a strong foundation in biological chemistry and molecular biology and related topics at the interface of Chemistry and Biology. Recognizing the dynamic nature of science, the BMB program will lead in undergraduate education and in research opportunities that advance the frontiers of knowledge through in-depth study and student experiential learning through performing independent research. In this pursuit, faculty and students alike are committed to developing and using their logic and critical thinking skills to achieve excellence in inquiry and discovery.
It is our mission:
(i) to create an environment for students to build a conceptual understanding to address current biological, biochemical, and biomedical challenges through practical and critical thinking skills;
(ii) to foster collaborative experiential learning opportunities for students through extensive research experiences;
(iii) to create venues for academic and professional achievement through mentoring and individualized instruction.
